DFC partners with the private sector around the world. While DFC prioritizes investments in low and lower-middle income countries, as classified by the World Bank, it may consider investments in certain upper-middle income countries. In addition, the European Energy Security and Diversification Act of 2019 mandates DFC to support certain energy and energy-related investments in eligible European and Eurasian countries without regard to host- country income classification.
DFC may support investments in connection with eligible projects only where the governments of those countries have entered into agreements with the United States authorizing the DFC to provide investment support.
DFC is not authorized to operate in every country. See a list of where DFC does not operate.
