Lawyers & Paralegals

DFC’s legal team, the Office of General Counsel (OGC), is responsible for providing all legal advice and services to ensure compliance by the Corporation and protection of the Corporation’s legal interests. 

OGC works to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, board resolutions, and the policies of DFC. They also represent or act on behalf of DFC in all matters requiring legal representation.    

Our legal team works on both the transactional and administrative sides of DFC. On the transactional side, OGC collaborates with colleagues across the Corporation to help structure and review all of DFC’s projects as well as assist the chief risk officer with DFC’s “Know Your Customer” policies and procedures. On the administrative side, OGC is responsible for managing the Corporation’s Ethics and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) programs.

Eligibility

Basic requirements for attorneys (all grades):

Education: All attorney positions have a minimum requirement of completing a Juris Doctorate (JD) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from an accredited school.   

Bar Membership: All attorney positions require active admissions to the bar of any state or territory, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, District of Columbia, or federal court, and the member must be in good standing.  

Specialized Experience: Relevant experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge or skills essential to satisfactory performance in the particular position. Specialized Experience is located under the Requirements section of each USAJOBS announcement.   

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, nationals, or those who owe allegiance to the U.S.   Applicants must be able to successfully pass a background investigation.   

Selective Service registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

Basic requirements for paralegal specialists:

Applicants must meet applicable basic education requirements, depending on position. 

Specialized Experience: Must have relevant experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge or skills essential to satisfactory performance in the particular position. Specialized Experience is located under the Requirements section of each USAJOBS announcement.
